Export promotion policies lift July exports by 31pc: Khurram Schehzad

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP):The export promotion policies introduced by the government boosted exports by more than 31 percent in July 2026 compared to the previous month, while the trade deficit narrowed by over 15 percent, marking a strong start to fiscal year 2026-27, Adviser to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad said here Wednesday.
The growth in exports reflect the positive impact of the government’s export-led economic strategy, the advisor said.
“The July performance is also an encouraging early sign of the policy direction set out in the FY27 Budget, which prioritizes exports, competitiveness, lower cost of doing business and private sector-led growth,” he posted on X .
Khurram said, the exports climbed to US$2.94 billion in July, registering one of the strongest month-on-month increases in recent years and a 9.5 percent growth over the same month last year.
With imports remaining broadly stable, the improved trade performance signalled strengthening external sector momentum and provided an encouraging early indication of the policy direction set out in the FY27 Budget, which prioritises exports, competitiveness, lower cost of doing business and private sector-led sustainable growth.
