Energy minister emphasizes need for World Bank cooperation in developing battery storage systems in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (APP):Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari held a meeting with the World Bank’s Country Director, Bolormaa Amgaabazar, on Thursday, during which detailed discussions were held on ongoing World Bank–supported projects in Pakistan’s power sector.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister emphasized the need for World Bank cooperation in developing battery storage systems in Pakistan, said a press release.
He stated that the World Bank could play a key role in promoting local investment in battery storage systems, which are essential for improving energy efficiency and ensuring the stability of the power supply.
Sardar Awais Leghari appreciated the World Bank’s technical assistance in the power sector and underscored the importance of expanding collaboration through future projects.
He stressed that enhanced cooperation would help accelerate reforms and strengthen Pakistan’s energy infrastructure.
On the occasion, the World Bank Country Director praised the ongoing reforms in Pakistan’s power sector and reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at sustainable and reliable energy development.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and the World Bank to further strengthening cooperation in the energy sector and exploring new avenues for investment and technical collaboration.
