Energy Minister directs PESCO to reduce line losses, enhance recovery

PESHAWAR, Dec 20 (APP):Federal Minister for Energy Umar Ayub here Thursday directed Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO’s)s high up to take cogent measures for reducing line losses and enhance recovery in all areas for benefit of consumers.The Minister passed these directives during his visit to PESCO Headquarters here at Wapda House today and held an important meeting with senior and general management besides Chief Engineers. The meeting reviewed and analyzed progress of PECSCO in curtailing of line losses and enhancement of recovery of outstanding amount from defaulters.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Govt has adopted zero tolerance against power theft and strict action would be taken against elements involved in power pilferage.
As per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said distribution system of electricity would be strengthened across the country and PESCO would be put on path of success and profitability.
He said Govt was committed to provide maximum relief to consumers at their doorsteps and role of PESCO in this regard carried vital importance.
The meeting discussed various aspects including ways and means to reduce line losses and increasing recovery of the outstanding amount of PESCO from defaulters and bringing further improvement in working of the company.
Chief Executive PESCO, Engineer Dr Muhammad Amjad briefed the Minister about working of the company in depth.
The minister directed PESCO staffers to work hard with professional zeal and dedication so that the company could be put on path of success.
He directed the field staff and workers to address consumers’ problems at their doorsteps. The Minister also directed acceleration of task forces’ activities and achievement of all targets by June 2019.
