ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): Pakistani embassies across the world celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervour by holding flag hoisting ceremonies and highlighting historical significance of the day.

SAUDI ARABIA

On the national occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, a graceful flag hoisting ceremony was held at the under construction Chancery building of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah.
Consul General of Pakistan Khalid Majid led the ceremony, joined by a large Pakistani community and legendary cricketer Javed Miandad who witnessed with great pride and honour as the National Flag rose amidst the national anthem.
Special messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out during the occasion. Students from Pakistani School delivered patriotic speeches portraying Pakistan’s vibrant history, cultural heritage and remarkable accomplishments

Consul General Khalid Majid, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the day, and payed tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan. He highlighted country’s achievements in various fields and underlined the paramount success achieved recently in Marka-e-Haq which will go down in the history as a golden chapter when our nation stood the test of the time and proved its worth as an independent nation. People of Pakistan are greatful to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia for their diplomatic support in this war. He also expressed his deep admiration for the Pakistani community living in Jeddah and their contribution towards promoting the economic development of Saudi Arabia and brotherly relation between the two countries.

Prominent community members Mr. Masood Ahmad Puri and Ch Shahabaz Hussain also adressed the gathering and highlighted significance of this day and blessings of freedom. The ceremony concluded on a joyous note, with a cake-cutting ceremony, gifts distribution among children. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity and well-being of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Participants made special supplications for Kashmir and Palestinian brethren, who continue to face atrocities in their freedom struggle against occupant forces.
New Chancery Building of Consulate General of Pakistan will soon be opened to public, promising enhanced services and facilities for our community. So this flag hoisting event holds a special significance for Pakistan community & mission in KSA.

EGYPT

The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with traditional zeal. Ambassador Aamir Shouket hoisted the national flag at the Chancery, followed by the National Anthem, recitation from the Holy Quran, and messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister.

In his address, Ambassador Shouket paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He lauded the nation’s unity and resilience, particularly during Operation Bunyan-Al-Marsoos in May 2025, which he said enhanced Pakistan’s global standing as a responsible and dignified state.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples, the Ambassador also highlighted the growing political, economic, defence, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Egypt. He praised the Pakistani community in Egypt for their contributions to national development and their role in strengthening bilateral relations.

The ceremony was attended by Embassy officials and members of the Pakistani community from various walks of life.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with national zeal and enthusiasm. A large number of Pakistani community members, along with their families, attended the event.

Messages from the leadership of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the United Arab Emirates, warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated the community on the auspicious occasion. He underscored the guiding principles of unity, faith, and discipline as the foundation for Pakistan’s continued socio-economic progress, and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and stability of the beloved homeland.

Paying tribute to the nation’s strength, resilience, and unity in the face of recent external aggression, the ambassador highlighted the success in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as historic milestones. He described these as powerful demonstrations of Pakistan’s unshakable national will and professional excellence.

Ambassador Tirmizi urged the Pakistani diaspora to maintain their constructive role in the country’s development, lauding their contributions to the growth of the UAE and their vital support to Pakistan’s economy through remittances amounting to USD 7.9 billion last year.

Commending the Mission’s IT team, the Ambassador announced the launch of an online passport and National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) tracking system to further streamline consular services for the Pakistani community. He also noted that two community schools had, for the first time in 20 years, achieved a good ranking, which is a testament to the collective efforts for educational improvement. He further shared that more Pakistani private schools have been approached to open branches in the UAE to enhance access to quality, affordable education for the community.

Expressing gratitude to the UAE government, the Ambassador acknowledged their support in making this year’s Pakistan Independence Day celebrations unprecedented in scale. The event, held on 10 August in Dubai Expo City attended by around 60,000 people, was the largest Pakistan Independence Day gathering held anywhere in the world.

As part of the celebrations, the Ambassador unveiled portraits of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, painted and gifted to the Embassy by Manzoor K. Hasrat. The ceremony also featured performances of national songs by schoolchildren, adding to the patriotic fervor of the day.

DUBAI

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony today to mark the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with national pride and enthusiasm. A large number of Pakistani community members attended the event.

Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, warmly welcomed the community members and extended heartfelt congratulations on the auspicious day.

The Consul General paid tribute to Pakistan’s resilience and unity in the face of recent external aggression, highlighting the successes in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as historic milestones. He described these achievements as shining examples of Pakistan’s professional excellence and unwavering national resolve.

He urged the Pakistani diaspora to continue playing a constructive role in the development of both the UAE and Pakistan, commending their contributions to the prosperity of the host country and their support for the homeland.

Expressing gratitude to the UAE government, the Consul General acknowledged their support for the grand Pakistan Independence Day celebrations organized by Emirates Loves Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai at Expo City Dubai on 10 August 2025.

The ceremony also included performances of national songs by students of the Pakistan Education Academy Dubai and a quiz competition.

SINGAPORE

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House, Singapore, today to celebrate the 78th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence and Marka-e-Haq.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Charge d’Affaires Salman Mahmood hoisted the national flag to the tune of the National Anthem, followed by the reading of the messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

In his remarks, the Charge d’Affaires paid homage to the leaders of the Pakistan Movement for their tireless struggle and sacrifices in securing a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, where they could live in dignity in accordance with the principles of Islam. He also paid rich tribute to the Armed Forces for their role in defending the homeland.

Mahmood acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the country’s development and urged them to continue playing an active role in bringing economic prosperity to Pakistan.

A large number of members from the Pakistani community attended the ceremony. The participants observed two minutes of silence to honour the heroes of Pakistan’s freedom movement and to reaffirm moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.

The event concluded with prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan, with special prayers for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

FRANCE

The Pakistan Embassy in Paris celebrated the 78th Pakistan’s Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony. Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch raised the Pakistani flag to the tune of the national anthem in the presence of members of the diaspora, embassy officials, and Pakistani families including a large number of children.

The messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion. The colourful Independence Day program included national songs and documentary. Later, the guests enjoyed traditional Pakistani food.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador paid tribute to the workers of the Pakistan Movement led by the Quaid-i-Azam and martyrs who gave their lives for Pakistan. She paid homage to teachers, workers, farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs who have contributed to the progress of Pakistan. She also expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for independence.

Ambassador Baloch lauded the courage and professional excellence displayed by the armed forces of Pakistan in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in face of a naked aggression by India. This success, she said, has renewed a sense of pride and hope in the Pakistani nation and sent a loud message to the world that Pakistani has the will and strength to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ambassador also appreciated Pakistani community in France for their commitment to Pakistan and for their impressive contributions in promoting Pakistan-France relations.

CHENGDU, CHINA

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu, organized a dignified event to celebrate 78 years of Pakistan’s Independence, on 14th August here.
The event was attended by Pakistanis living in Southwest China and officials of the consulate.

The event began with the traditional flag hoisting, followed by reading of the messages of the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister. In his remarks, Consul General, Mr. Tanvir A. Bhatti, paid rich tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan, and their visions for a prosperous, independent, and free Pakistan.

He also highlighted the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs, and the gallantry of Pakistan armed forces, especially in the recent conflict with an aggressor state.
The Consul General also expressed the hope that Pakistanis living in Southwest China would continue to work hard, and make their nation proud, and work as true ambassadors of the Pak-Sino friendship.
