FAISALABAD, Jan 08 (APP):The Punjab government has finalized eligibility criteria for receiving applications from the farmers under Chief Minister Punjab Green Tractor Scheme Phase-III for promoting mechanization in the agriculture sector.
Director Agriculture (Extension) Chaudhary Khalid Mahmood said that the applicants must be residents of Punjab and possess a valid Computerized National Identity Card.
He said that only those farmers having verified ownership of five acres or more agricultural land would be eligible to apply under the scheme.
He clarified that the farmers who had already availed subsidized tractors under Phase-I, Phase-II (High Power) of the Green Tractor Scheme, or the Wheat Incentive Program would not be eligible to apply again. The farmers who were defaulters of the Kisan Card facility were also ineligible for participation in the scheme, he added.
Chaudhary Khalid Mahmood said that the Agriculture Department reserved the right to verify land ownership details and credentials of the applicants through revenue records or field verification.
Under the scheme, the tractor provided would remain registered in the applicant’s name for a minimum period of three years and its sale before completion of this tenure would be prohibited strictly, he added.
He further said that the farmers selected through digital balloting process would be required to deposit Rs 500,000 as their share, along with registration fee, card fee, transaction charges, owner number plate fee within the timeframe specified by the department after issuance of the allotment letter.
The selected applicants would also be required to choose the tractor make and model ranging from 50 to 65 horsepower.
The government reserved the right to withdraw the subsidy without prior notice while the applications could also be rejected if any discrepancy was found during verification as transparency and merit would be ensured throughout the process, he added.
