ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): As Pakistan prepares to welcome 2026, elderly residents in old age homes across Islamabad marked the New Year with celebrations filled with joy, reflection, and companionship.
The homes were decorated with colorful balloons, banners, and lights, creating a festive atmosphere for the residents. Special meals featuring traditional Pakistani dishes, including sheer khurma, mithai, and warm tea, were arranged to make the occasion memorable.
Residents participated in interactive activities such as storytelling, poetry recitals, indoor games, and creative crafts, sharing memories of past celebrations and expressing hopes for the coming year. Volunteers from local organizations also visited the homes to distribute gifts, sweets, and warm clothing, further enhancing the festive spirit.
Talking to APP here on Wednesday has been said that Romana Chaudhry, CEO and Founder of Growing Women, visited several old age homes in Islamabad during the celebrations to distribute gifts and sweets to residents, aiming to bring joy, companionship, and a sense of inclusion to the elderly.
Evening programs included small countdowns to midnight and non-alcoholic toasts, emphasizing companionship and community. Administrators of the old age homes highlighted that such celebrations improve emotional well-being, foster social bonds, and ensure that senior citizens feel valued and included during the holiday season.
