Eight private members’ bills introduced in Senate
ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Eight private members’ bills were introduced in the Senate and referred to the concerned committees for further consideration.
As per details, Senator Shahadat Awan introduced the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
Senator Mohammad Abdul Qadir introduced the Fatima Institute of Science and Technology Multan Bill, 2026, providing for the establishment of the Fatima Institute of Science and Technology.
He also introduced another Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri introduced the Muslim Family Laws (Maintenance of Parents) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961.
Senator Kamran Murtaza introduced the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Industrial Relations Act, 2012.
Senator Sarmad Ali introduced another Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri also introduced the Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Family Courts Act, 1964.
She further introduced another Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking further amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
All eight private member bills were referred to the concerned committees for further consideration.
Meanwhile, a private member bill passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the Senate was also referred to the concerned committee. Senator Bushra Anjum Butt moved that the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking amendments to the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021.
