LAHORE,Sep 13 (APP): The faithful in the Punjab capital Tuesday celebrated Eid-ul-Azha with religious zeal and fervour amid tight security.
Eid congregations were held at historic Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar Mosque, Nasir Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Minar-e-Pakistan, Model Town Park, Jamia Naeemia, Jamia Ashrafia, Idara Minhajul Hussain, Jamia tul Muntazir Model Town, Jamia Qadisia Chouburji, Jamia mosque Mansoorah and many other places.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PML-N MNA Hamza Shehbaz and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid offered Eid prayer at Jati Umra
along with party workers.
Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana offered Eid prayer at Badshahi Mosque and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Ittefaq Mosque, Model Town.
Ulema and religious scholars in their sermons highlighted the importance of sacrifice of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) on the order of Allah Almighty. They also prayed for unity of Muslim Ummah and liberation of Palestine from Israeli subjugation and people of occupied Kashmir from Indian yoke.
Ulema also paid tribute to the armed forces fighting against terrorists. They prayed for the martyrs of Pakistan Army and for successful completion of the ongoing operation.
Foolproof arrangements were made in the city for the security of Eidgahs, mosques and Imambargahs. Around 20,000 police personnel under the supervision of divisional SPs performed security duties.
Rescue-1122 teams also remained on high alert to provide quick relief and rescue services, besides providing medical cover to citizens across the district in case of any emergency. Over 2,000 rescuers performed special duties at control room and emergency rescue stations, while fully equipped ambulances, fire fighting vehicles, rescue vehicles, and specialized vehicles remained standby to meet any eventuality.
About 11,000 employees under the supervision of zonal officers of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) remained busy in disposing of entrails, offal and other waste of animals.
According to the LWMC sources, 800 vehicles, including 500 pickups and heavy vehicles, were deputed in the city to dispose of waste of sacrificial animals.
