Effective mechanism in place to facilitate foreign investors: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said on Wednesday that encouraged by overall improvement in the security environment and the economic stability Pakistan had achieved, a number of reputed foreign companies had expressed keen desire to explore business opportunities in Pakistan.
Talking to a three-member delegation of the General Electric (GE), led by Frederic Ribieras, Global Chief Financial Officer(GCFO) which called on him here, the minister appreciated the GE’s investment ventures in Pakistan.
He said the government welcomes foreign investment and has an
effective mechanism in place to facilitate it.
“Our support to you and other such companies would always be
forthcoming,” the Minister remarked.
According to a press release issued here, the delegation had
detailed discussion with the Minister on GE’s investment programme
in Pakistan.
Frederic Ribieras recalled recent visit of Chairman and CEO of
GE Jeffery Immelt to Pakistan and meeting with a number of senior
officials.
He said that the General Electric firmly holds the view that
the enabling environment provided by the present Government has
positioned Pakistan as an investor friendly country which is open to
opportunities.
He also mentioned about recent announcement of a substantial
investment in Pakistan by GE and added it is both a reflection of
this positive business environment and GE’s commitment to the
country.
Frederic Ribieras and members of accompanying delegation
thanked the Finance Minister for sparing time out of his busy
schedule to meet them.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance attended the
meeting.
