ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP):“The true purpose of education is to impart awareness, provide dignified employment, social standing and practical skills so that individuals can live respectable lives themselves and play an effective role in the country’s social and economic development” said the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood while speaking about admissions for the Spring Semester 2026 here Thursday.
He stated that the University’s foremost priority was to ensure that its graduates were not merely degree holders but were also employable, skilled and confident in practical fields. In line with this vision, the AIOU has introduced 12 new postgraduate diploma programs in the Spring Semester 2026 in addition to programs ranging from Matriculation to PhD, he said and added, admission forms, prospectuses and detailed information for these diploma programs are available on the University’s website. The last date for admissions is February 10.
According to the Vice Chancellor, all these postgraduate diploma programs are market-based and focus on skills and practical learning. They have been designed in view of current national and international employment requirements. The objective of these programs is to equip students with skills aligned with modern demands so that they can successfully enter practical life immediately after completing their education.
Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood further emphasized that the University wanted its graduates to attain a respectable position in society, earn a livelihood with dignity and contribute positively to national development. This philosophy forms the foundation of Allama Iqbal Open University’s policies and educational reforms, he added.
He urged the students, parents and working professionals to take full advantage of these newly introduced postgraduate diploma programs, which offer excellent career-building opportunities in a short period of time.
