ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the maintainability of a reference seeking the disqualification of Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sohail Sultan under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
The three-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and comprising Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi, heard arguments from both sides during proceedings held on Wednesday (January 21, 2026).
Following the hearing, the Commission reserved its decision, which will be announced at 3 pm on Thursday. The ruling will determine whether the case advances to a full trial or is dismissed on technical grounds.
The petitioner, Nasrullah Khan, was represented by Sultan Muhammad Khan, while the respondent, Sohail Sultan, was represented by Babar Awan.
The reference against Sohail Sultan, who represents NA-04 Swat, was filed under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, which deal with the qualifications and disqualifications of members of the National Assembly.
