Earthquake death toll in Bajaur Agency jumps to 22, 145 injured: PDMA

PESHAWAR Oct 29 (APP): The death toll due to October 26 powerful
earthquake in Bajaur Agency Thursday reached to 22 whereas 145 sustained injuries as the Government has expedited relief and rehabilitation activities by providing food and non food items to the victims.
A Spokesman of PDMA told APP that death toll in Bajaur Agency has
mounted to 22 while 145 sustained wounds due to walls and roof collapsed incidents due to October 26 killer earthquake. He said 1700 houses were either fully or partially damaged in Bajaur.
The Government has expedited relief and rescue operations in Bajaur
Agency and the teams of political administration have started surveys of losses incurred to lives and properties of people in Fata and KP to provide financial relief to earthquake victims under PM Compensation Package.
It merits mentioning here that on Wednesday last, Prime Minister has
announced Rs 600,000 for the each dead, Rs 100,000 for injured, and for those who lost a limb or disabled Rs 200,000 besides Rs 200,000 for a destroyed house and Rs 100,000 for partially damaged houses during devastated earthquake.
The PM package was welcomed by earthquake victims of KP and Fata and
termed it a good endeavours of the Government to help provide financial relief to the affectees.
The good aspect of the package is the quick distribution of
compensation cheques in a record four days time in order to enable the affectees reconstructs their houses before the harsh cold weather struck them.
This would ensure the affected people to rebuild their houses within a
month besides providing shelter to their children before dawn of the harsh weather especially in the mountainous districts and tribal gencies.
