Duststorm & rain-thundershower forecast in upper and central Pakistan from June 13 to 16

ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a spell of duststorms and rain-thundershowers with occasional gaps in upper and central parts of the country from June 13-16.
The prevailing severe heatwave conditions are likely to subside during this period.
According to the Met Office, moist currents were currently penetrating the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave was also likely to approach the region on June 13.
Under the influence of these weather systems, duststorms and rain-thundershowers, accompanied by isolated hailstorms, are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad from June 13-16 with occasional gaps.
Duststorm and rain-thundershower activity, along with isolated hailstorms, are also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel on June 13 and 16 with occasional gaps.
Duststorm and thunder-rain are also expected in all the districts of southern Punjab and upper Sindh during the same period.
The PMD has warned that windstorms, dust-thunderstorms, hailstorms, and lightning may cause damage to loose structures such as electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels, particularly in the upper and central parts of the country including Islamabad.
The prevailing severe heatwave conditions, which have affected large parts of the country in recent days, are expected to subside during the forecast period, bringing much-needed relief to residents.
The farmers have been advised to manage their crop activities keeping in view the anticipated weather conditions.
The general public, travelers, and tourists have been strongly advised to take precautionary measures to ensure
safety during this spell of weather activity.
The PMD has also urged all concerned authorities to remain “alert” and take all necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation during the forecast period.
