ISLAMABAD, Jul 06 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have enforced a high-alert security plan for the 10th of Muharram, deploying over 4,000 police officers and personnel across the federal capital to ensure the safety of 12 processions and 48 religious gatherings scheduled for the day.
A police spokesperson told APP on Sunday that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi is personally monitoring all security arrangements across the district, with senior officers including DIGs, SSPs, and SPs supervising operations on the ground.
IG Rizvi said that a total of 57 security checkpoints have been established across Islamabad to secure processions and majalis.
IG said more than 300 traffic officers have also been deployed to ensure smooth vehicular flow and assist the public throughout the day.
IG Rizvi said all security operations are being monitored through Safe City surveillance, body-worn cameras, drones, as well as both mobile and central control rooms.
He said security for 76 processions and 498 majalis had already been successfully managed across Islamabad up to the 9th of Muharram.
IG said despite the harsh weather conditions, every officer and personnel of Islamabad Police remain committed and highly motivated in their duties.
