ISLAMABAD, Feb 16 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Monday shared details of the medical treatment of the PTI founder, saying initial reports show a clear reduction in swelling and improvement in vision, with no major complications so far.
In a statement on X, the minister said a detailed medical examination of the former prime minister was conducted inside Adiala Jail on Sunday afternoon under government instructions and in a transparent manner.
He said all necessary facilities were provided to ensure proper medical care.
According to him, a CT scan machine, slit lamp equipment, and a fully equipped ambulance were arranged at the jail for the examination.
The physical check-up was carried out by Dr Muhammad Arif Khan from PIMS and Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Shifa Hospital, while senior specialists Dr Aasim Yusuf and Dr Mirza joined through a video link. PTI chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was kept informed about the process.
The minister said the family had been formally informed and allowed to be present during the examination, but no family member attended. He added that the entire process was supervised by medical experts.
He said one dose of the Eylea injection has already been given, and the second dose is scheduled for February 25. Doctors have suggested that Vabysmo could be used as an alternative if needed.
However, due to a positive response, it has been decided to continue with Eylea for now.
Dr Tariq Fazal said the next step will be an angiogram, after which doctors will decide whether laser treatment is required.
He stressed that despite being in prison, the PTI founder is being provided all necessary medical facilities.
He added that it is the state’s responsibility to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen and said there has been no negligence in this case.
