DPM/FM Dar directs TCP to expedite procurement of remaining 185,000 MT wheat for Sindh
ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with acceptance of the lowest bids for procurement of the remaining 185,000 metric tons (MT) of wheat required by Sindh.
The deputy prime minister issued the directives while chairing the 7th meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports for Food Year 2026-27.
The meeting reviewed progress on arrangements for wheat imports and discussed measures to ensure timely completion of the procurement process.
He also directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promptly arrange the requisite payments and complete the tripartite agreements with TCP.
The DPM/FM stressed the need for timely execution of the import process to ensure adequate availability of wheat in the country.
He said the imports would help ensure adequate wheat supplies at reasonable rates and provide maximum relief to the people.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sindh Minister for Food, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Commerce, Managing Director PASSCO, relevant provincial secretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
