Pakistan, Malaysia pledge to deepen ties as DPM Dar Meets PM Anwar in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, Jul 11 (APP):Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday called on Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim here amid a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at advancing Pakistan-Malaysia ties.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting, underscored the mutual resolve of both nations to enhance cooperation across political, economic, and regional fronts.

DPM Dar conveyed warm greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong desire to expand mutually beneficial partnerships with Malaysia, particularly in trade, investment, and the halal economy. He lauded Malaysia’s leadership as the ASEAN Chair in 2025 and appreciated its constructive role in tackling regional and global challenges.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the sentiments and emphasized Malaysia’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding ties with Pakistan. He expressed keen anticipation for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif later this year, terming it a valuable opportunity to cement bilateral collaboration.

The two leaders also discussed practical steps to enhance economic linkages, particularly the expansion of cooperation in the halal sector. They explored prospects for increased exports of Pakistani meat, rice, and agricultural products to Malaysia.

Senator Dar thanked Prime Minister Ibrahim for Malaysia’s warm hospitality and the excellent arrangements made for the ASEAN Regional Forum. He also appreciated Malaysia’s efforts to boost economic engagement following Prime Minister Anwar’s visit to Pakistan in October last year.
