Dissident Taliban commander in Badakhshan opposes foreign militant groups in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Jul 03 (APP): Juma Khan Fateh, a dissident Taliban commander in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, has publicly stated his long-standing opposition to the presence of foreign armed groups in the country, explicitly naming Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
In a statement shared on his X account, Fateh said that he has opposed these foreign entities from the very first day and continues to stand by this position.
He expressed firm support for any actions or attacks aimed at suppressing and eliminating these groups to prevent the killing of civilians.
Fateh further emphasized that the Darwaz region and the strategic mines of Badakhshan remain fully under the control of his forces, declaring that they will not allow any encroachment on Darwaz and Badakhshan.
“Until our last breath, we will not allow anyone to encroach on Darwaz and Badakhshan,” he said.
The development surfaces amid repeated assertions by international bodies and regional countries saying that the Taliban regime provides safe havens for foreign armed groups.
Concurrently, reports indicate intensifying disputes between local Taliban commanders in Badakhshan and figures aligned with the group’s central leadership in Kandahar and Helmand.
Local sources previously noted that negotiations between a Taliban delegation and Juma Khan Fateh had failed.
Meanwhile, separate reports have also emerged detailing the deployment of Taliban military convoys to the Darwaz area in Badakhshan province.
