ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):All power distribution companies (DISCOs) and their field teams are working day and night to restore power supply in the flood affected areas of the country.
The Ministry of Energy is making all out possible effort to ensure electricity supply is fully restored as soon as possible in the flood-affected areas, said a press release issued here Thursday.
According to a report issued by the Power Division, DISCOs are carrying out restoration work on emergency basis and most feeders are gradually being restored.
In the areas managed by Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), a total of 30 feeders were affected, including 14 in Chiniot, 9 in Jhang, 5 in Sargodha, 1 in Mianwali, and 1 in D.I. Khan. All these feeders have been temporarily restored while they will be fully restored shortly. The restoration work is rapidly progressing under the supervision of SE Operations in the Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali circles.
In the areas under Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), a total of 7 grids and 54 feeders were affected. In Sialkot, 3 grids and 25 feeders were affected, of which 19 feeders have been fully restored and 1 partially restored.
In Narowal, 1 grid and 20 affected feeders have been fully restored. In Gujranwala, 2 grids and 7 feeders were affected, with 3 fully restored and 1 partially restored. Hafizabad has 1 grid and 2 affected feeders. Overall, 42 feeders have been fully restored and 2 partially while remaining will be restored till night.
In the areas managed by Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), 1 affected feeder in Lahore, 8 in Kasur, and 8 in Okara have been partially restored. SE Operations and construction gangs are engaged in restoration work, and the affected feeders will be fully restored once the floodwater recedes.
In the areas under Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO), a total of 50 feeders were affected, including 10 in Pakpattan, 1 in Sahiwal, 16 in Bahawalnagar, 12 in Vehari, 2 in Bahawalpur, 2 in Lodhran, one each in Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and 4 in Multan. The relevant staff is on standby and will begin restoration immediately as the water recedes.
Under Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), a total of 12 grids and 91 feeders were affected. In Swat, 3 grids and 35 feeders were affected, with 34 fully and 1 partially restored. In Buner, 1 grid and 9 feeders were affected, with 5 fully and 4 partially restored. In Shangla, 1 grid and 5 feeders were affected, with 2 fully and 3 partially restored. In Sawabi, 2 grids and 11 affected feeders have been fully restored. In D.I. Khan, 5 grids and 31 feeders were affected, with 19 fully and 11 partially restored. Overall, PESCO has fully restored 71 feeders and partially restored 19, with the rest expected to be restored within 2 to 7 days.
In the area managed by TESCO, 2 affected feeders in North Waziristan have been restored.
