Dignity, self respect of railway employees to be fully protected: Abbasi

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Thursday reiterated that the dignity and self-respect of railway employees would be fully protected.

Chairing a meeting at the Ministry of Railways to review various operational and administrative matters, he said Pakistan Railways will ensure the safety and honor of its employees under all circumstances.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the punctual departure of trains, passenger facilities and the overall condition of railway tracks across the country.

The progress on ongoing development projects and system upgradation initiatives within Pakistan Railways was also reviewed.

The meeting was also briefed about the recent incident at the Gujrat railway crossing, where a gatekeeper, Muhammad Afzal, was assaulted.

The minister appreciated the prompt action taken by the Railway Police, which resulted in the arrest of the accused, Shams Abbas. A case has been registered against the suspect at the Railway Police Station, Wazirabad.

Hanif Abbasi said that respect for railway workers was a reflection of the institution’s prestige and integrity.
