ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP):For many residents in Islamabad, buying or selling a property has long involved long queues, mountains of paperwork, and uncertainty over the legality of transactions.
That is set to change with the introduction of an electronic stamp paper system by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration.
The new system will digitise key processes such as property transfers, mutations, and sale or purchase transactions, reducing delays and cutting the risk of fraud.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon told APP the initiative will help resolve public difficulties and improve service delivery, promising a smoother experience for citizens navigating the property market.
He emphasised that the system is part of a wider push to modernise land records and make public services more accessible.
Memon said residents will now be able to verify property ownership quickly and complete transactions securely, saving time and reducing the stress traditionally associated with property dealings.
Speaking to APP, a local resident Huma Khan said, “I have been waiting months to complete the sale of my flat. If this system works as promised, it will save people like me a lot of time and frustration.”
Another resident, Mustafa, added, “Digital records are a step in the right direction. It will reduce corruption and make the whole process much safer for buyers and sellers.”
A spokesperson for the Capital Development Authority said: “This move is about creating a transparent and accountable process where citizens’ rights and investments are protected.”
“The launch of the E-Stamp Paper system marks a significant step in Islamabad’s journey toward digital governance, combining modern technology with citizen-focused services to simplify one of the city’s most complex administrative processes,”he told APP.
