ISLAMABAD, Jun 25 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq on Thursday visited the Muharram Control Room established at Imambargah G-6/2 and reviewed the Safe City surveillance system monitoring the central 9th Muharram procession.
An official told APP, Director IT Atif Abbas and Assistant Director Safe City Abbas Mehdi briefed the DIG on the surveillance mechanism, live monitoring and operational capabilities of the Safe City camera network deployed for Muharram security.
Tariq was informed about the real-time monitoring of procession routes, sensitive locations and security points through the Safe City cameras to ensure timely detection of any untoward incident.
DIG Tariq reviewed the operational readiness of the control room and directed officers to maintain uninterrupted surveillance, strengthen coordination with field formations and ensure an immediate response to any emergency.
The official said the control room was playing a vital role in supporting field officers through continuous monitoring and prompt dissemination of information during the central Muharram procession.
Muhammad Jawad Tariq appreciated the performance of the Safe City and IT teams and emphasized the effective use of modern technology to further strengthen security arrangements and ensure the peaceful conduct of Muharram-ul-Haram in the federal capital, the official added.
