ISLAMABAD, Jun 04 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq chaired a high-level meeting to review Muharram-ul-Haram security arrangements and assigned special tasks to officers for ensuring foolproof security of religious gatherings and processions across the federal capital.
An official told APP on Thursday that a comprehensive security plan for Muharram-ul-Haram was reviewed during the meeting and officers were directed to ensure effective implementation of all security measures.
The official said participants of Majalis and processions would be provided full security, while police presence would be enhanced at sensitive locations throughout the city.
Jawad Tariq directed officers to conduct patrolling, search and combing operations in sensitive areas and strengthen liaison with Imambargah administrations and peace committees.
He also ordered a detailed review of procession routes and directed officials to ensure removal of bushes and wild vegetation along the routes before the start of Muharram activities.
The official said effective checking would be ensured at entry and exit points of the city, Imambargahs and other places of worship.
According to the DIG, surveillance, monitoring and overall security oversight systems across the city would be further strengthened, while mourners participating in Majalis and processions would undergo complete screening through metal detectors.
Jawad Tariq said Islamabad Traffic Police would remain active round the clock during Muharram-ul-Haram to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate commuters.
