DIG Ali gives SHOs 15 days to improve performance, issues show-cause notices
ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Ali Waseem gave all Station House Officers (SHOs) 15 days to improve their performance, while show-cause notices were issued to poorly performing SHOs and investigation officers as part of measures to control crime in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the directions were issued during a meeting chaired by the DIG Islamabad to review crime prevention and police performance.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar, SSP Security and Administration, zonal SPs, SDPOs and SHOs.
Ali Waseem reviewed the performance of officers individually and directed them to improve results within the given period. He ordered effective and targeted action against active criminal gangs and asked officers to use all available resources to control crime.
The DIG Ali directed police to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals and persons with previous criminal records.
He also ordered officers to ensure recovery of stolen property in property-related cases and remain in regular contact with complainants regarding progress in their cases.
The basic responsibility of police is not to hide crime but to control it, Ali said.
The DIG Ali said there was zero tolerance for corruption, warning that if corruption was proved, strict departmental and legal action would be taken without discrimination.
He said officers showing good performance would be encouraged, while negligence and poor performance would lead to departmental action.
Ali also directed all officers to regularly hold open courts (Khuli Kachehris) to hear citizens’ complaints, provide timely relief and resolve their problems on merit.
