ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Ali Waseem has directed traffic officers not to register cases under Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for traffic violations, asking them to impose fines in accordance with law instead.
According to an official, the directions were issued as part of measures to avoid unnecessary criminal cases against citizens over traffic violations.
Ali directed traffic officers to deal with violators according to traffic laws and avoid unnecessary registration of cases.
He also asked traffic personnel to treat citizens with courtesy, respect and responsibility while performing their duties.
The DIG Ali, however, urged citizens to strictly follow traffic rules and avoid violations to ensure their own safety and that of other road users.
He said cooperation between citizens and traffic police was important for maintaining smooth traffic flow across the federal capital.
Following traffic rules is essential for a safe and peaceful travelling environment, Ali said, urging citizens to cooperate with traffic police and follow road safety rules.
