DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 05 (APP):Dera Ghazi Khan Police on Wednesday paid rich tribute to its fallen heroes by holding solemn ceremonies at the Police Lines Martyrs’ Memorial and Traffic Chowk to mark Police Martyrs’ Day.
Candles were lit in memory of the police martyrs, while special prayers were offered for the elevation of their ranks and in recognition of their supreme sacrifices for the nation.
The ceremonies were attended by District Police Officer (DPO), SP Investigation, police officers, journalists, members of civil society, and schoolchildren. Participants visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, offered Fateha, prayed for the departed souls and renewed their pledge to uphold the legacy of the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The gathering also resonated with spirited chants of “Long Live Punjab Police.”
Speaking to the media, the DPO said that 43 personnel of Dera Ghazi Khan Police had embraced martyrdom while protecting the lives and property of citizens, maintaining peace, and upholding the rule of law.
He described the police martyrs as the pride of the force and a priceless national asset, saying their sacrifices would forever be remembered with honour and gratitude.
The DPO said Punjab Police stood firmly by the families of its martyrs and would continue to support them at every step. He added that the peace and security enjoyed by the people today were the result of the unparalleled sacrifices made by these courageous sons of the soil.
He said the martyrs, who had written a glorious chapter in the nation’s history with their blood, would always remain alive in the hearts of the people, while their courage, dedication and selfless service would continue to inspire future generations.
