Deputy Speaker felicitates nation on 80th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 13 (APP): Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah on Thursday extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation on the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan was the result of the unparalleled struggle, countless sacrifices, determination and perseverance of the country’s forefathers.

He said the occasion provided an opportunity to renew the pledge to work collectively for Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, democratic stability and economic development.

The Deputy Speaker said the vision and teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal remained a guiding light for the nation.

He said it was the national responsibility to build Pakistan according to their principles, ensuring constitutional supremacy, rule of law, democratic values, social justice, equality and protection of fundamental rights.

Paying tribute to the founders of Pakistan, leaders of the Pakistan Movement, women, youth, elders and citizens, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said the creation of Pakistan was the culmination of a long and historic struggle in which every segment of society played its role.

He said women stood shoulder to shoulder with men during the Pakistan Movement and contributed through their courage, determination and patriotism.

He added that youth also made a significant contribution through their enthusiasm, passion and commitment, while elders and citizens played their part through courage and sacrifices.

He said the services and sacrifices of the founders of Pakistan and all leaders and workers of the Pakistan Movement were a precious part of the country’s history and would always be remembered with respect and gratitude.

Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said Pakistan could overcome its challenges by promoting national unity, mutual respect, political tolerance and a sense of collective responsibility.

He said differences of opinion were an essential part of democracy, but consensus and unity on matters of national interest must always be given priority.

The Deputy Speaker paid tribute to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the security and defence of Pakistan.

He said their sacrifices strengthened the nation’s resolve and spirit of patriotism, adding that the nation would never forget its heroes.

He said Parliament would continue to play its constitutional role in strengthening democracy, upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law, promoting public welfare and fostering national unity.

He urged all segments of society to work together for the progress, prosperity and development of Pakistan.

The Deputy Speaker also paid tribute to the people of Kashmir and Palestine for their continued struggle for the right to self-determination and their sacrifices.

He said Pakistan would continue to extend its moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri and Palestinian people.

He expressed hope that their struggles for freedom and self-determination would succeed and enable them to achieve freedom, justice, lasting peace and their legitimate rights.

Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah prayed that Allah Almighty bless Pakistan with peace, stability, progress and prosperity and grant the nation strength and wisdom to work with unity, harmony and sincerity for the country’s development.

He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the founders of Pakistan and the martyrs who rendered sacrifices during the Pakistan Movement.
