ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov, who is visiting Pakistan to attend the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference Tuesday called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House, Islamabad.
Ayaz Sadiq expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Russia relations, emphasizing that Pakistan is keen to further deepen ties with Russia based on mutual respect, trust and shared interests.
He said that his meeting with the Russian leadership in 2014 marked a turning point in the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Speaker expressed hope for a peaceful and durable resolution of the Russia–Ukraine conflict, stressing that Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace, dialogue, and negotiated settlements to all disputes
Speaking on regional security, Ayaz Sadiq highlighted Pakistan’s firm stance and successful defence response against Indian aggression.
He said that Pakistan’s firm and proportionate reaction, resulting in the downing of seven Indian fighter jets, demonstrated the nation’s strong defence capability and resolve.
Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further enhance cooperation with Russia in trade, investment, energy and parliamentary engagement.
Recalling his 2024 visit to Russia, he termed it a memorable and productive engagement that opened new avenues of collaboration between the two countries.
Mr. Alexander Babakov expressed his country’s strong commitment to strengthening relations with Pakistan.
He appreciated Pakistan’s balanced, pragmatic and responsible approach toward regional and global issues, saying that there exists significant potential for expanding trade and investment between the two nations.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma observed that the current global system faces serious challenges and emphasized the need for a multipolar world based on balance, justice, and cooperation. He informed that Russia will host the next Speakers Conference.
