Dense fog alert: Pakistan braces for intensifying smog this week

ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning for increased fog intensity and duration across Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa throughout this week.
Cold and dry weather is expected across most parts of the country on Wednesday. However, moderate to dense fog and smog will persist over Punjab, Upper Sindh, and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affecting visibility and daily activities.
Cold and dry conditions are expected in the capital and surrounding areas.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cold and partly cloudy weather will prevail across most districts.
Moderate to dense fog may develop during morning and night hours in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, and surrounding areas.
The Punjab province will experience cold and dry weather. Hill stations including Murree and Galiyat will see particularly cold conditions. Moderate to dense fog/smog is likely to persist in major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and numerous other districts including Sialkot, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
In Sindh, dry weather is forecast for most districts, with cold conditions during morning and night.
Fog will likely persist in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Mohenjodaro, and surrounding areas during morning and night hours.
In Balochistan, cold and partly cloudy weather is expected across most districts.
In Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan, very cold weather with partly cloudy skies is expected in the region.
The weather remained cold and partly cloudy over most parts of the country during the past 24 hours, with moderate to dense fog/smog persisting over plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded was -5 C in Leh, while Gupis, Kalat, Bagrote, and Skardu recorded -2 C.
