Delegation of Public Health UK meets Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE, Dec 15 (APP): A delegation of Public Health Department Britain led by its Chief Executive Dr. Duncan Selbie met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here on Thursday.
Provision of quality health facilities to the people in Punjab especially reorganization and reforms of Institute of Public Health were discussed during the meeting.
The Health department and Public Health Department UK agreed upon taking speedy measures for reorganization and reforms of Institute of Public Health.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “Provision of quality health facilities to the people is our mission and revolutionary reforms are being introduced for improving healthcare system. Improvement of healthcare system is among our priorities and we are moving speedily towards this direction.”
Decision had been taken for setting up of Punjab Public Health Agency in place of Institute of Public Health, he added.
Shehbaz Sharif said that cooperation by Public Health Department Britain for improving healthcare system augured well. He said that with the cooperation of UK, capacity of Institute of Public Health would be build. He said that the role of Institute of Public Health was of paramount importance with regard to surveillance of diseases and quick response system.
He said that Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority had also been set up in the province and with the cooperation of friendly countries, all out steps were being taken for the improvement of healthcare system.
Chief Executive Public Health Department Britain said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was making untiring efforts for improving healthcare system under a vision and all out cooperation would be extended to the Punjab government in this regard.
He said that the efforts of Chief Minister for improving healthcare system would soon yield positive results.
The delegation included Public Health Experts Ms. Gemma Lien, John Forde, and Ms. Rishma Maini. Provincial Minister Primary and Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir, Advisor Dr. Umer Saif, Additional Chief Secretary and concerned officials were present on the occasion.
