ISLAMABAD, May 08 (APP):Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi on Wednesday informed the Senate that degrees of around 800 employees recruited in Karachi Port Trust (KPT) would be verified from Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Replying to a question during Question Hour, the minister said that one disabled person had been appointed in the ministry in year 2019 against two per cent quota.
He said currently a total 176 officers BPS17-BPS22 were working in Port Qasim Authority (PQA). PQA recruitment rules had been approved by the Federal Government in March, 2011 and notified vide SRO No. 43(KE)/2011, dated 05-03-2011, he added.
He said appointments were made in PQA in accordance with the recruitment rules/ procedure and observance of provincial / regional quota.
He said at present, PQA Board had imposed a ban on recruitment (except operational categories), vide BR No. 08/2014, dated 16-09-2014.
The shortfall in prescribed quota would be materialized after lifting of ban on appointment imposed by the PQA Board.
