ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Sunday paid tribute to the country’s martyrs and war veterans on Defence Day, saying their sacrifices remained an unforgettable chapter of Pakistan’s national history and a guiding light for future generations.
A police spokesperson told APP that in his message on Defence Day, the IGP said September 6 was an unforgettable day in the country’s history and an occasion to honour those who sacrificed for the defence and security of the homeland.
He said the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan Armed Forces for the security, sovereignty and defence of the country would always be remembered.
Rizvi said the martyrs’ sacrifices were a bright chapter in national history and would continue to inspire future generations.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs of Islamabad Police, saying they too had made great sacrifices for peace and security.
The IGP said Islamabad Police remained committed to maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of citizens, adding that the force continued to perform its duties around the clock for public safety and law and order.
He said Defence Day taught the nation the values of unity, discipline and solidarity, stressing that every citizen had a role to play in safeguarding the country’s peace and security.
Rizvi urged citizens to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs while contributing towards Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
He said the families of martyrs deserved the nation’s respect and care, describing their welfare as a national responsibility.
“On Defence Day, we should renew our pledge to remain united for Pakistan’s security, peace and stability,” the IGP said.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of all martyrs and bless Pakistan with lasting peace and security.
