Deadly kite flying under siege: ICT Police book 93 cases, destroy over 29,000 kites and chemical strings

ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have intensified their crackdown against kite sellers and flyers, registering 93 cases and seizing more than 17,000 kites and over 12,000 hazardous chemical strings as part of a zero-tolerance policy against the deadly practice.
A police spokesperson told APP on Wednesday that the seized kites and lethal chemical strings were subsequently destroyed, underscoring the police’s resolve to eliminate kite flying and selling from the federal capital.

The spokesperson said the indiscriminate operations were carried out across different areas of Islamabad to curb the so-called “bloody game,” which poses serious risks to public safety.
Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Operations , warned that chemical string could prove fatal for innocent children, motorcyclists and pedestrians, stressing that even a minor lapse could result in lifelong disability or loss of life.

He urged parents to strictly discourage their children from kite flying and the use of chemical string, calling it both dangerous and illegal.
SSP Qazi reiterated that Islamabad Police would continue effective and across-the-board action against those endangering public lives, adding that the protection of citizens’ life and property remains the force’s top priority.
Islamabad Police reaffirmed that the crackdown against kite flying, kite selling and chemical string would remain ongoing, with no leniency for violators.
