KARACHI, Dec 24 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said with the present government taking the country in the right direction, the days of despair and frustration had passed and Pakistan’s future was bright.

He pointed out that few years back it was speculated that the country would default but now the international financial institutions were praising the government for its economic measures.

Addressing the teachers and students of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s Alma Mater, the Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) here at State Guest House, the President said that now it was impossible to stop the country from becoming an economic power.

He also mentioned the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and said when completed, it would be a monument of the century adding that it was the responsibility of the nation to make CPEC project a success.

The President said that many energy projects were also part of the CPEC and hoped that there would be no load-shedding by 2018.

He said the whole nation in particular the new generation and people belonging to education sector should effectively fulfill their responsibilities and obligations.

The President said that education was his first and foremost priority so that the new generation could be guided about their obligations and they could lead the country in future.

He said the future of the country was in the hands of the new generation.

The President was of the view that after attaining independence, the country was on the right track and the possibilities for progress and development were many, adding that this passion and speed of development lasted till 1970s but later as a result of corruption the pace of development stopped.

“It is my utmost desire that the new generation plays its role in eradicating the menace of corruption so that the country could be put on the path to development”, he added.

The President said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a great man who gave the nation Pakistan and the better way to pay homage to the Father of the Nation was to put the country on the path to success and prosperity in the light of his teachings and vision.

He said that the country would soon hear the good news of a uniform national educational curriculum.

The President urged the teachers and students of the SMIU to bring laurels to the varsity through hard work, as it was the alma mater of Father of the Nation.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the SMIU, Muhammad Ali Sheikh briefed the President about the activities of the university.
