Daultana terms public concern over commodity prices legitimate after fuel price cut

ISLAMABAD, Jun 22 (APP):Senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Tehmina Daultana, on Monday maintained public concerns regarding reduction in fuel prices would directly lower transportation costs, bring down the prices of essential commodities, and provide tangible relief to the common people.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, she said the government’s significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices reflected its people-centric policies and would help ease inflationary pressure on the public.
Responding to a question, Daultana said the public had right to show their concerns regarding commodity prices declined, following fuel price reductions which is considered a major factor in determining the prices. She also termed it a legitimate concern and hallmark of democracy where voice of citizen’s legal concerns valued.
She said the government had responded to these concerns by taking timely and positive measures aimed at providing maximum relief to the people.
Commenting on the decision, she said prioritising public welfare was a positive step, especially at a time when people were facing inflation. She added that lower fuel prices would benefit transporters, farmers, labourers and small traders, while also supporting economic activity and market stability.
Daultana expressed hope that the government would continue monitoring the prices of essential commodities and take strict action against hoarding and profiteering.
She said the government’s initiative demonstrated that public welfare remained its foremost priority and expressed confidence that such measures would keep the country on the path of economic development while bringing further relief to the people.
