LAHORE, Oct 27 (APP):The district administration has finalised all arrangements for three-day 975th annual Urs of Hazrat Ali bin Usman Al-Hajveri, popularly known as Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), to commence from Sunday.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the
Urs celebrations by laying a floral wreath on the shrine
of 10th century saint and opening of Sabeel of milk on
Sunday morning.
Special langar (food stalls) would be set up at
designated places of the shrine for the general public
attending the Urs celebrations.
Food would be doled out round-the-clock among the visitors and devotees
during the three-day celebrations.
However, the Lahore police have put in place strict
security arrangements for the annual Urs. Capital City
Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore BA Nasir while addressing
a meeting at Qila Gujjar Singh here on Saturday, said
that additional police officials under the supervision
of SPs would be deployed to maintain three-layered security.
The police personnel would be deployed on nearby rooftops
to keep an eye on any suspicious activity and the vehicles
of Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit would conduct
patrolling in areas nearby to deal with any untoward incident.
Search and sweep operations would also be conducted
in nearby areas and hotels, whereas cameras have been
installed for monitoring.
The devotees would be allowed to enter the shrine
through walk through gates and their checking by metal
detectors at the entry points.
Lady police constables would also be deputed in the premises reserved for women.
Volunteers of various organizations would assist the Auqaf department in performing security and arranging different ceremonies.
