Dar cancels visit to Beijing
Governor Punjab calls on Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD, June 19 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad
Ishaq Dar has cancelled his visit to Beijing, China, which was
scheduled for next week.

The decision has been taken in view of the fact that the Prime Minister is still recovering from his open heart surgery abroad and the Finance Minister’s presence in the country is essential.

A Finance Ministry spokesman, in a statement here, said the minister was scheduled to attend the first annual meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at Beijing on June 25-26.

The minister was also scheduled to speak at a seminar, besides
holding certain other meetings during the visit.

Ishaq Dar, in a letter to the AIIB President AIIB, has expressed regrets over his inability to attend the annual meeting. Secretary Economic Affairs Division Tariq Bajwa will now represent Pakistan at the event.
