Dar, Canada’s FM Anita Anand discuss boosting economic cooperation, regional stability

ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand to discuss bilateral relations and avenues for expanding cooperation in multiple sectors.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed Pakistan–Canada ties and explored ways to enhance economic cooperation in areas including agriculture, clean energy and critical minerals, a DPM’s Office news release said.

The discussion also focused on strengthening people-to-people contacts. Anita Anand appreciated the contributions of the vibrant Pakistani diaspora residing in Canada and its role in fostering closer relations between the two countries.

Both sides underscored the importance of sustained high-level engagements to maintain the positive momentum in bilateral relations and deepen cooperation in diverse fields.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on evolving regional developments. Dar emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and adherence to international law to promote de-escalation and stability in the Middle East and the wider region.

The conversation reflected the shared commitment of Pakistan and Canada to further strengthen bilateral engagement and cooperation.
