Danyal accuses PTI of sabotaging talks despite govt efforts

ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP):Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry on Monday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of deliberately sabotaging the government’s efforts to resolve political differences through dialogue, saying the government had kept the doors of negotiations open to promote political stability, national unity and democratic reconciliation.
Addressing a press conference here alongside Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan, he said the government had engaged the PTI in negotiations with sincerity and made repeated efforts to resolve political issues amicably, with several representatives of the party’s leadership taking part in the process.
Barrister Danyal said the government believed in taking all political forces along and resolving differences through democratic means, dialogue and consultation.
However, he alleged that the PTI lacked clear leadership on negotiations and ultimately undermined the process despite the government’s efforts to move it forward.
He said certain elements are attempting to mislead the public and promote politics based on hatred and division, stressing that the government remained willing to consult all political parties in the larger national interest.
Turning to the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the parliamentary secretary raised questions about governance, public service delivery and law and order under the PTI-led provincial government, alleging that corruption had increased while basic public issues remained unresolved.
He said more than 2,000 incidents of terrorism had occurred in the province, while over 72 personnel had lost their lives in terrorist attacks, adding that law-enforcement personnel and citizens had made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Barrister Danyal stressed that political differences should not undermine collective efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace, saying a united national approach was essential to address the security challenges facing the country.
He reiterated that despite political differences, the government would continue efforts to take all political forces on board and pursue dialogue and consultation to address the country’s political, economic and security challenges.
