ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP):COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has successfully concluded its 40th Selection Board for the recruitment and promotion of faculty under the Officer grade (OG) and Tenure Track System (TTS) streams.
The Selection Board, chaired by Prof Dr Raheel Qamar, Rector CUI, held interviews and examined cases of appointment in higher grades of 780 faculty members on OG Scale across CUI and 212 Faculty Members on TTS Scale across CUI.
Marking a major step towards institutional modernisation, the Selection Board, conducted over a span of sixteen days, represents the first-ever Selection Board held through electronic means at COMSATS University Islamabad using the University’s in-house developed software, SmartSelect@CUI.
This dedicated software was designed, developed, and deployed within an accelerated period of four weeks by CUI’s own software development team, enabling efficient digital handling of cases, secure documentation, and streamlined decision-making.
SmartSelect@CUI provides a highly secure and efficient platform for conducting faculty evaluations, featuring system-generated, blinded recommendations based solely on candidates’ academic credentials and performance indicators, thereby strengthening transparency and merit-based assessment.
As part of the University’s continuing digital transformation agenda, SmartSelect@CUI is further being upgraded to incorporate AI-enabled features aimed at enhancing analytical evaluation and supporting evidence-based decision-making in future employee selection processes.
CUI held its last Selection Board in August 2024, after which faculty appointments and promotions were stalled, creating a shortage of faculty, which had become detrimental to the sustenance of several academic programs, as well as creating a backlog of nearly 1000 faculty members awaiting career progression.
The incumbent Rector took it up as his foremost challenge to operationalise various university forums and restore CUI’s prestige as the top-ranked public sector university of Pakistan using modern governance methods.
The Selection Board for Non-Faculty Officers is expected to conclude in the coming week.
