Crackdown on illegal weapons

LAHORE, Oct 28 (APP): DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf
said police had started a crackdown on illegal
weapons in the provincial capital ahead of LB elections.
Addressing a meeting of officials of the Cantonment
Division here on Wednesday, he said a security plan had been
made to supply election metrial from the Election
Commission’s building to polling stations.
He said under the security plan, all polling stations of
the city had been divided into three categories where policemen
would be deployed. Police officials will remain
present at sensitive polling stations, he added.
He said the metropolitan police were utilizing all
available resources to maintain peaceful environment for local
bodies elections and provide foolproof security to people.
The DIG said the city police would effectively
implement and enforce the code of conduct of the Election
Commission of Pakistan.
He directed the officials to launch a crackdown on
proclaimed offenders, drug pushers and gamblers.
