MULTAN, Dec 18 (APP): Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana Sunday said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would also bring about prosperity in South Punjab.
South Punjab would get many benefits from the CPEC as industrial zones will be introduced across the country, the governor said this while addressing at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here.
Like the agriculture sector, industry was also a backbone of the national economy which played a key role in providing jobs to millions of people, he said.
Rajwana said there were proposals of gymkhana at Mattital Road,
export display centre and centre of excellence in Multan. The government
was also striving hard to provide the maximum relief to the industry
especially in terms of energy, he added.
The Governor informed the government was also considering to
construct a big hospital in the city,adding that the Punjab government approved huge funds for WASA to resolve issues of sewerage on permanent basis.
About education projects, Rajwana said work on Women University at Mattital road was underway with a rapid pace. The issue of land for
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture was also being resolved, he added.
Earlier, President MCCI Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi called for special development package for Multan. He urged the governor to make Khanewal, Bosan and Shershah roads signal free like Jail Road in Lahore.
