ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP):A delegation of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Branch (CPA-UK) led by its Chef Executive Jon Davies visited Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) on Wednesday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
CPA UK has been working closely with WPC in knowledge and experience sharing on women empowerment initiatives in the two countries.
The delegation comprising of Chef Executive, CPA UK Branch Jon Davies and BIMR Secretariat Robert Harper, Asia Pacific Regional Programes Manager, said a press release issued here.
During the meeting, the matters regarding violence against women and child abuse were thoroughly discussed and it was agreed that the experience will be mutually shared to overcome these issues.
Members of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) have expressed desire to work with CPA-UK against child abuse incidents.
Secretary WPC, MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik highlighted the human rights atrocities being took place in the Indian held Kashmir against women.
She expressed concerns regarding international community’s silence on the matter and urged CPA UK to review the situation and raise its voice against the inhuman treatment being meted out to the Kashmiri women.
Members of the WPC urged the continuation of the CPA-UK and WPC regular annual interaction that was practiced on rotational basis in London and Islamabad and it will be bilateral or trilateral.
