ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (APP):The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday issued a written order declaring former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur a proclaimed offender after repeated failure to appear before the court in two registered cases.
The order was released by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti following reports submitted by the police regarding compliance with legal procedure.
According to the written decision, the court was informed that public notices under Section 87 of the law had already been displayed at required locations. Head Constable Karman submitted an affidavit confirming that the proclamation process had been completed.
The police also filed a report detailing steps taken to trace the accused, but informed the court that Gandapur could not be located and was not available for arrest.
After reviewing the record, the court observed that the accused appeared to be absconding. On this basis, the court formally declared Ali Amin Gandapur a proclaimed offender.
The court also cancelled his bail bonds and issued permanent arrest warrants to ensure his detention. Orders were passed to place his name on the official list of proclaimed offenders so that law enforcement agencies can arrest him when traced.
The court further directed that legal action be initiated against the surety who had provided guarantees for Gandapur’s appearance. The cases against him are registered at Bara Kahu police station and include charges related to liquor recovery and illegal possession of weapons.
In a separate but related development, the court also ordered proclamation proceedings in two cases linked to the Haqeeqi Azadi March. The magistrate directed authorities to publish newspaper advertisements and paste notices at various locations to inform the accused of court proceedings.
The court noted that Ali Amin Gandapur did not appear despite multiple summons. The hearing of the cases has now been adjourned until 9 February.
Meanwhile, other accused in the same cases, including the PTI founder, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Zartaj Gul, have already been acquitted. Two cases against Ali Amin Gandapur and others remain under trial at Bara Kahu police station.
