ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday, rejected the bail plea of Ahmed Jawad in a case registered over controversial tweets allegedly posted during the Pakistan–India conflict.
During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that Jawad was never summoned for any inquiry. He said his client merely shared information about a ceasefire.
He further stated that the tweets did not mention any individual by name, making defamation claims baseless. The defence also said the complainant, identified as Anis-ur-Rehman, remained unknown to them and questioned how a private citizen could represent the entire state.
The prosecutor countered that under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), anyone can file a complaint.
After hearing both sides, the court dismissed Ahmed Jawad’s bail request, ruling that the matter required further legal proceedings.
