ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for several witnesses in the case related to alleged torture of a minor domestic worker, Rizwana, after their repeated failure to appear before the court.
The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti.
During the hearing, the court noted the continuous absence of witnesses despite earlier directions.
Taking notice of the situation, the magistrate issued non-bailable arrest warrants for multiple witnesses and ordered that all witnesses be arrested and produced before the court at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, Advocate Sharafat, representing the complainant, withdrew his power of attorney. Later, Advocate Shahid Hussain Jisra submitted a new power of attorney on behalf of the complainant.
The complainant did not appear before the court at the scheduled time of the hearing, which was set for 2:00 pm. The court reviewed the record and proceeded with the matter in the absence of the complainant.
After issuing the orders, the court adjourned the hearing of the case until February 7. According to police records, a case against the accused, Somia Asim, has been registered at Humak Police Station.
