ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday indicted lawyer and rights activist Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in a case related to controversial tweets.
Both pleaded not guilty, prompting the judge to summon all prosecution witnesses for the next hearing.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka conducted the proceedings, where both accused denied the charges framed against them. The court then directed the prosecution to present its witnesses at the next hearing, scheduled for November 5.
During the proceedings, a brief exchange took place between the judge and Hadi Ali Chatha. Chatha told the court he would not submit surety bonds, adding that he was willing to remain in jail if necessary. The judge directed him to resubmit his bail bonds and adjourned the hearing.
The case, registered over allegedly controversial tweets, will now proceed with the examination of prosecution witnesses at the next hearing on November 5.
