ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (APP):The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Tuesday extended the pre-arrest bail of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder in six cases and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in one case, directing that the PTI founder be presented either in person or via video link at the next hearing on October 28.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the cases and extended the interim bails of both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi until October 28. The court also barred authorities from arresting them in the relevant cases until the next hearing.
During the proceedings, Advocate Shamsa Kiyani appeared on behalf of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. The judge issued a show-cause notice to Adiala Jail authorities for not ensuring the PTI founder’s appearance and sought an explanation from them.
The court directed that arrangements be made to produce the PTI founder before the court or through video link during the next hearing.
The PTI founder faces several cases related to the May 9 incidents, attempted murder, and alleged fake receipts, while Bushra Bibi is accused in a Toshakhana fake receipts case.
Separately, Additional District and Sessions Judge Amir Zia heard another case against Bushra Bibi, related to the November 26 protest, and extended her interim bail while restraining police from arresting her. Advocate Shamsa Kiani also represented her in this case.
The court was informed that the case against Bushra Bibi had been registered at the Ramna police station under various legal provisions. The hearing was adjourned until October 28 for further arguments from both sides.
