ISLAMABAD, Jun 15 (APP):Chairman Kashmir Committee Member National Assembly (MNA) Rana Qasim Noon on Monday said the country’s civil and military leadership had played a commendable role in promoting peace and safeguarding national interests, which enhanced Pakistan’s standing at the international level.
Participating in the budget debate in the National Assembly, he congratulated the armed forces and the nation’s leadership for Pakistan’s diplomatic and strategic successes in recent months.
He said efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and encouraging dialogue would contribute to peace, political stability and economic activity, benefiting not only the region but also the wider international community.
He paid tribute to the armed forces for their professionalism and sacrifices in defending the country’s sovereignty and security, saying the nation stood united with its defenders.
Referring to the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Rana Qasim Noon reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
He strongly condemned attempts to undermine the Kashmir cause and stressed that lasting peace in South Asia remained linked to the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The lawmaker also acknowledged the contributions of the Kashmiri diaspora in highlighting the issue at international forums and supporting their homeland through remittances and advocacy.
Turning to the federal budget, he said the government had presented a balanced budget despite economic challenges and international financial constraints.
He appreciated the relief measures announced for salaried individuals and pensioners, as well as the enhanced allocation for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), expressing hope that these initiatives would help alleviate poverty and provide support to vulnerable segments of society.
Rana Qasim Noon emphasized upon the need to accelerate industrialization, promote investment and continue economic reforms to ensure sustainable growth and employment generation.
Highlighting the importance of the agriculture sector, he said farmers were facing multiple challenges, including the impacts of climate change and rising production costs, and called for greater support to strengthen the rural economy.
He proposed the formation of a parliamentary committee on agriculture to engage stakeholders and formulate recommendations aimed at revitalizing the sector.
The MNA said improving the conditions of farmers would contribute significantly to national prosperity, as agriculture remained the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.
He also welcomed development initiatives in south Punjab, expressing confidence that infrastructure projects in the region would improve connectivity and promote socio-economic development.
