Commissioner seeks report for solution of RMT land dispute

PESHAWAR, Dec 19 (APP):On the special instructions of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud paid a detailed visit to Regi Model Town (RMT) in connection with finding a sustainable solution to the 35-year-old pending RMT land dispute.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (Retd.) Sanaullah, Deputy Commissioner of Tribal District Khyber Bilal Shaid Rao, Director General Peshawar Development Authority Shah Fahad, representatives of the Kukikhel tribes, and revenue officers from Peshawar and District Khyber accompanied him.
The Commissioner Peshawar Division carried out a detailed review of the Maffey–Griffith Line, drawn during the British era, which defines the boundary between Tribal District Khyber and District Peshawar and is the main cause of the dispute. He also obtained relevant information from the revenue staff.
The Commissioner directed a team comprising revenue staff from District Peshawar and District Khyber, along with engineers from the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), to prepare a detailed report on their respective demarcations related to the Maffey–Griffith Line and submit it within 72 hours. In this regard, another joint meeting convened on 23 December.
Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud expressed his determination, saying that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, is keenly interested in resolving the dispute and that all stakeholders are also showing seriousness.
He said that this favorable opportunity would be utilized to resolve the issue, and that the affected people would soon be given good news. He also extended special thanks to the Kukikhel tribes for their cooperation.
